The finest riding”, “great presentation of the stallions”, “refreshingly candid and authentic” and “unique atmosphere”- the reviews of the Sosath Stallion show, which took place on Saturday night, were nothing but positive. Over 2500 guests attended the Stallion show last weekend and thousands more tuned in from over 60 different countries to the live streaming of the diverse and exciting performances by the Sosath stallions.

Levisonn opened the evening with a wonderful demonstration of his double strength as both dressage and jumping sire. This was followed by the new young jumping additions to the station; Campitello, by Cador and Naldo, by Nabab de Rêve. They were presented under saddle and both demonstrated a great willingness to work and outstanding balance and suppleness. Flying changes were executed by both young stallions with no problems.

Especially exciting was the performance by 11-year-old Piet Menke, the next Hugo Simon! Piet presented his 6-year-old mare Cesha OLD, by Casiro-Lordanos. After an impressive course, Piet playfully took the microphone and told the audience that he couldn’t speak highly enough about his horse and how much fun he was having riding and showing the wonderful offspring of Casiro and Lordanos. Cesha OLD, her father, Casiro, and his son, Casirus were all shown on Saturday. Offspring and sire jumped and presented themselves incredibly well, giving a very perfect family picture!

The 15-year-old Quality was alongside his son, 8-year-old Quel Chanel (out of a Landor-S dam). Both jumped a large course, which demonstrated their natural ability and great work ethic. The jumpers Casino Berlin, Coolio, Quaid and Lord Cassini jumped a short course and impressed the audience with clear talents over fences.

Particularly interesting, was the revelation that Gerd Sosath, known mostly for his jumping sires is accumulating a strong number of dressage sires, which have earned him points in the dressage sector. After the show, Gerd Sosath admitted he was especially happy with the performance of his dressage stallions and believed it was the best dressage performance his station has made to date.

The three-year-old Florenz, by Florencio was especially extraordinary, with outstanding basic gaits, good transitions, an active hind-end and great character. The young stallion showed a lot of maturity and integrity during the show and seemed un-phased by the large crowd and activity around him. The successful and well known dressage sire Ampère was shown in hand. While his son, Antango, as well as San Riant, Franziskus and Rock Forever NRW were all shown under saddle.

The imposing stallion, Detroit, was a positive surprise for breeders. It was the first time he was presented at Vechta after being sold over Jan Brink to Anna Zibrandtsen, in Denmark. In this short period of time, Jan Brink and the young rider, have brought 9-year-old stallion Detroit from l-level dressage to the Grand Prix level, successfully and flawlessly executing both piaffe and passage. The obviously goal for this team is the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Vanesa Kossen, the NDR-editor who won a media award- the “silver horse”- for her week-long news report about the Sosath Stud (titled “Hengste und Handel”), gave a short interview about her work with her colleague, Else Burkert. She emphasized that the integrity of the Sosath family and their honest business created a very fun and wonderful experience for her, and is what ultimately allowed her to create an award winning series. The videos are available for viewing on the website, www.sosath.com. It was her work on the mini-series which directed her back to the Sosath stud for the film, “Jappeloup”, which has recently began showing in German cinemas. On her second visit to Hof Sosath, she chose Incello, a beautiful stallion who was bred, trained and shown up to S-Class competitions by Gerd Sosath and team to be used in the film, Jappeloup. After he was leased to a French filmmaking company, he was sold abroad.

The last impression of the night was a fun and entertaining demonstration of the French “Can-Can” dance by the almost 100 volunteers, who held French flags to follow the theme of the 2014 World Equestrian Games and the film, Jappeloup.

Breeders and other interested people can view the show in the archive section of Clipmyhorse and in Hof Sosath’s youtube-channel (in a few days). There will also be a DVD of the full show available in the end of February.

The next events for the Sosath Stud: Open House on Saturday, 19th April at the stud in Lemwerder. There will be an exhibition dedicated to horse, rider, garden and hobby and everyone is invited. Interesting lectures will be given by specialists, kids can enjoy pony rides and there will be another presentation of the stallions, followed by the annual Lemwerder Foal championships. On Sunday April 20th, the stable will hold its second “Easterball”, complete with a live band and buffet. Tickets are available for €49 and include entry, a welcome drink and a large Italian buffet.
