Jumping Antwerp becomes Longines Global Champions Tour Of Antwerp. In October 2013, the news was spread through various media. The prestigious jumping event is raised to another level in 2014 based on the well-know site Waagnatie Antwerp. What brings the new name?
The press conference on Saturday, February 22 was loudly announced in the heart of the city of Antwerp, the Grote Markt. The Antwerp City Hall was an amazing decor for the numerous invited press. With a hunting horn corps at the entrance, the first speakers, guests and even spectators came to the core of the city.

Eric Thoelen, President of Longines Global Champions Tour Of Antwerp, was the first to speak to the press. Philippe Liénard, Sports Director, added a few words to it. Ludo van Campenhout, council of sports, was happy to welcome the new concept and the high level of Longines Global Champions Tour. Marc Nuytemans, Managing Director Exmar Shipmanagement NV, gave a brief explanation about the influences of the prestigious event on one of the three pillars of Antwerp, the port of Antwerp.
Philippe Verlinden, Event & Marketing of Scapa Sports, was absent because of a flu. David Menez, event director, brought the story of the influences of LGCT Of Antwerp into the clothing brand Scapa. Nathalie D’Anvers her story was translated by moderatrice Ilse De Vis. Nathalie will design an exclusive women’s collection for LGCT Of Antwerp. David Menez gave information about the last pillar of Antwerp, diamonds.
Ceremony
The decor of the Antwerp City Hall, was moved to the front yard. The Grote Markt was filled with 16 horses. At the moment the press went out of the hall, they were encouraged by a corps of military buglers.
With a double row of horses, David Menez and Ludo Van Campenhout proceeded to the middle of the Grote Markt. The diamond horseshoe was handed over by David Menez to Ludo Van Campenhout.
