CSI 5* Al Shaqab (QAT): Results of Thursday

Show Jumping CSI 5* 1.45 meter/Table C

Total Prize Money:  EUR 30,000

Henrick Von Eckerman of Sweden won 7.500€ on Toulouse 66 in the 1.45m/Table C.

Commenting on yesterday’s results Bob Ellis, Show Jumping Course Designer said: “The competitions went really well yesterday and I thought the CSI5* classes were superb. There was super footing and the facilities were unbelievably good. It’s a pleasure to build here really. We’ve had a few problems with winds blowing the fences down overnight, but on the whole it looks as though it’s set fair now ready for today.”

RESULTS

1st Place –    Henrick Von Eckerman of Sweded won 7.500€ on Toulouse 66

2nd Place –   Constant Van Paesschen of Belgium won 6.000€ on Ralphy Utopia De Ransbeck

3rd Place –   Nicola Philippaerts of Belgium won 4.500€ on Casana

Show Jumping  CSI 5* 1.50 meter/Jump Off

Total Prize Money:  EUR 91,000

Steve Guerdat of Switzerland won 22.750€ on Nasain the 1.50m/Jump Off.

Steve said that he chose to come to CHI AL SHAQAB 2014 over the Paris Grand Prix which is also on this weekend  as his horse prefers to ride in warmer conditions and large arenas: “Heat helps her keep calm and it’s better to run in big arenas. I know I have a good chance and she has good scope.”

Show Jumping competition steward Pedro Cebulka is pleased with the footing of the arena and said: “If nobody’s complaining, it’s perfect”. On working at AL SHAQAB, he commented: “I pinch myself every morning. Of course I’d seen pictures and my friends recommended it. It’s the place I had to go”.  Pedro is famed for his choice of hats and also explained that Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani gave him a special outfit to wear for the Grand Prix in honour of Qatar and AL SHAQAB.

RESULTS

1st Place –    Steve Guerdat of Switzerland won 22.750€ on Nasa
2nd Place –  Pieter Devos of Belgium won 18.200€ on Candy
3rd Place –   Michael Whitaker of Great Britain won 13.650€ on Elie Van De Kolmen
