These days, the Nations Cup tournament of young riders “Future Champions” at the Hof Kasselmann in Hagen at the Teutoburg Forest is well worth a visit. Otto Becker, German national coach of German adult show jumping riders, feels the same; as after all Germany’s equestrian future would gather here. “This is of course reason enough for me to drop by for a general view.”

The 13-year-old Beeke Carstensen from Sollwitt in Schleswig-Holstein competed the first time at Future Champions this year. She rode with her nine-year-old mare Venetzia to winning the Children’s Championships on Saturday noon. “I had never thought that it would be that perfect the first time,” the new owner of a Future Champion-winner’s blanket happily said. “I simply had to snatch it at this fantastic tournament.”
The French Elisa Mellec and Renarde Rumel were only 0.9 seconds slower and finished second today after she had won the opening competition in the children’s division on Tuesday evening. Third place went to Britt Roth (Freimersheim), another German rider in the saddle of the Holstein gelding Acontenonce. “The performances are simply fantastic, some of the juveniles ride like old stagers, even at this young age,” Otto Becker was pleased about the high level of the young German show jumping riders.

„Sometimes my mare is a bit crazy when competing in front of a huge audience, but today, she was well-tempered and fought hard for me,” Anna-Christina Abbelen from Kempen was delighted about her victory in the freestyle final of the junior division with First Lady. To the music of Sister Act and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the eight-year-old black mare with the Württemberg pedigree by Florencio I – Donnerhall brought her charming rider the final score 74.58%. Jessica Krieg from Heinsberg finished with only three points behind, scoring 74.44% with Revers Side. Team colleague Franziska Schwiebert already declared Abbelen to be favourite to take victory in this age-group on Wednesday. Schwiebert came in third with her Fuerst Rohan.
