The FEI CSI3* 1.55m Millstreet Grand Prix in Ireland was contested by forty-five combinations yesterday and each and every one of them was hoping to take home a share of the €50,000 prize pot.
Twelve combinations went through into the jump off and it was a victory on home soil for Irish rider Thomas Ryan partnering Quite Zero. This combination secured the only zero penalty score of the class to finish on a double clear in 47.95 seconds.
Ellen Whitaker (28) from Barnsley, South Yorkshire took second place on Antonio Marinas Soto’s 8 year-old grey mare Lea Beau H.E. The pair were faultless over the fences but were unfortunate to pick up a single time penalty in the jump off. In leaving all the fences up though, they took second place in a time of 51.54 seconds.
Holly Gillott (25) from Loughborough, Leicestershire with her own 9 year-old liver chestnut gelding Dougie Douglas took third. Holly and Dougie Douglas collected four penalties in the jump off, but their quick time of 44.20 seconds ensured them of a place in the top three, ahead of another British combination, which was that of Anna Edwards and Blazer B.
