Team dressage world champions Bella Rose and Isabell Werth are out of contention for possibly more medals at Normandy2014. After her top performance in the morning at D’Ornano stadium the mare developed signs of an acute inflammation of the hoof sole.
Isabell Werth: “This hits us out of the blue. I am deeply disappointed. But obviously we don’t want to take any risks. The mare’s health has absolute priority. That’s why I have withdrawn her for the special.” National coach Monica Theodorescu is disappointed as well: “I am awfully sorry for the pair.”
The ten-year old chestnut mare looked like she could be the discovery of the Games after delivering the best result for Germany, coming second behind Valegro and Charlotte Dujardin.
