In the main stadium, not only the seats in both the Riders’ Stand and the AachenMünchener Stand are being completely renewed, but also part of the cement. In addition, a further stable block comprising of 28 stables is being built, which will bring the total number of permanent stables at the showgrounds up to 430. The sanitary facilities are also being expanded: A further 50 toilets are being built at the back of the AachenMünchener Stand, as well as a toilet for disabled people. Furthermore, extensive paving work began this week. Among other things, the area in front of the CHIO Aachen offices is going to be paved. To ensure that the grounds are more suitable for wheelchair users, strips of many of the paths will be paved to make it easier for the wheelchairs to be manoeuvred.

“We want to make our guests’ visit to our fantastic grounds as pleasant as possible,” commented Frank Kemperman, Chairman of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), organisers of the event, which is why the grounds are permanently expanded and renovated. “We will also be able to make use of all building measures in the future for the annual CHIO Aachen,” added Kemperman.

Approx. 450,000 visitors are awaited at the FEI European Championships Aachen 2015 in five equestrian sport disciplines from August 11th-23rd. The extensive construction measures will be completed prior to the World Equestrian Festival (May 29th-31st). They are being carried out with the support of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
