After the dressage stallion championship, it was time for the KWPN Select Sale (KSS). With only dressage stallions offered this evening, the highest bid was for the stallion selection champion: Handsome O, who proved himself head and shoulders above his competition and therefore convincingly captured the champion sash. The Johnson offspring was the first to be showcased in the KSS and immediately sparked a bidding war. Ultimately the final bid of €300,000 rested with Kirsten Andresen of Norway. She spoke proudly of her new gorgeous bay stallion: “We liked Handsome O from the moment he entered the viewing pen; it was love at first sight.”
The selected stallion Hot Game (s.Easy Game) changed hands for €140,000. He was purchased by RS2 Dressage Center de Horst BV of Bergharen. Robin van Lierop: “Coincidentally, we know the breeder of this stallion, so we know what kind of place he comes from. We think he’s a very talented horse, and we have a lot of faith in the future.”
The two Jazz sons Hot Shot V.D.T. and Hapiness Returns C were both purchased by Andreas Helgstrand of Denmark. Hot Shot V.D.T. commanded €100,000 and Hapiness Returns C €90,000.
Nataliya Bronnikova of Russia regularly purchases stallions through the KSS. A fan of Jazz offspring, she opted for Jazz blood again at this year’s auction, this time via the stallion Westpoint. For €85,000, she took home the selected son Hummer.
The 2015 KSS was a success! The average selling bid was almost €57,000, and sales totaled more than €1,300,000.
