Leipzig’s cult tournament is just around the corner – PARTNER PFERD 2014

World Cup deciders in three disciplines – show jumping, equestrian vaulting and driving, the finals of three series (the W. Seinecke PARTNER PFERD CUP, the Eggersmann Junior Cup and the German Horse Pellets Tour), a spectacular Sparkassen Sports Gala, and the Leipziger Pferdenacht (Leipzig Horse Evening) – all hallmarks of PARTNER PFERD, from 16^th to 19^th January at the Leipzig Exhibition Centre.

With a total of over half a million euros in prize money and a budget of 2.2 million euros, PARTNER PFERD has for many years been one of the most prominent international events in equestrian sport in Germany.  In the space of just four days the programme boasts 35 events with competitors from 20 different countries, and requires the construction of 470 boxes for the four-legged guests. PARTNER PFERD Leipzig – this name holds some serious weight in international sport. Weight and history, since it was at this tournament that World Cup show jumping took place without the event ever having hosted a World Cup qualification event as a “trial run”. That was in 2001. Leipzig’s PARTNER PFERD was also the setting for four World Cup finals under one roof.  That was in 2011.

For the drivers and vaulters PARTNER PFERD is the final qualification station ahead of the FEI World Cup finals. This means not only a spectacular race for points in this “home straight”, it is also the last chance for some competitors to test the form of their horses ahead of the finals.   Spectators can look forward to a new vaulting sub-discipline: For the first time ever, the Pas de Deux – the doubles vaulting – will be part of the international indoor series.  The première, which took place in Munich, was certainly quite the spectacle!

For the show-jumpers, Leipzig holds the seventh stage of the Longines FEI World Cup, and everyone wants a piece of the action. The number of enquiries has exceeded the number of places available. Interested parties include last year’s winner Christian Ahlmann from Marl and Irish rider Denis Lynch. Closing date for entries is 20^th December. The national associations will then nominate their candidates and national trainer Otto Becker will make his decisions as to which candidates will join the chase for points at PARTNER PFERD. There will be a total of 28 international tests in show jumping, driving and vaulting, as well as several national events.  In short, Leipzig is always worth a visit, but never more so than from 16^th to 19^th January…

MDR Television to broadcast PARTNER PFERD live

MDR Television is also getting excited about this spectacular equestrian sports event. On Saturday 18^th January, the “MDR Sachsenspiegel” programme will be coming live from PARTNER PFERD between 19.00 and 19.30. The programme will also be taking a look behind the scenes of the international event. On Sunday, from 17.00 to 18.00, the Sparkassen Cup, with the deciding event of the Longines FEI World Cup will be the hot topic on “Sport im Osten”.

From Thursday to Sunday, PARTNER PFERD will be captivating spectators with spectacular sport, the Sparkassen Sports Gala on Friday evening, and the Leipzig Horse Evening on Saturday evening.
