(Hagen a.T.W.) The second tournament day at Horses & Dreams meets Denmark was just as Julien Epaillard prefers it. The French rider already led the lap of honour early Thursday morning in the P.S.I. Championships with Usual Suspect D’auge. And his successful series continued in the first jumper competition of the CSI**** Big Tour at the foot of the Hagen Borgberg.

Presented by the Hof Kasselmann GmbH & Co. KG, Epaillard showed up with the Diamant de Semilly-son Safari D Auge, prevailing over New Zealand’s Bruce Goodin with Baloppi. The Brit William Funnell with Billy Angelo completed the mixed international rostrum. Felix Haßmann was best German rider with Cayenne WZ. He had already won the opening competition on Wednesday with SL Brazonado.
„Horses & Dreams is a super tournament for horses and riders – everything is simply well organized,” praised Julien Epaillard the 15th Equestrian Festival in Hagen at the Teutoburg Forest. The 38-year-old show jumping rider runs a show stable in Lisieux/Normandy with his wife Susana. His results in Hagen may decide whether Epaillard will take the “road to Rio”. Yet he was not one of the best in France, “but if everything runs well, I can maybe at least dream a bit,” he smiles.
No international show jumping tournament without Youngster-Tour where the top riders compete with their most promising futurity prospects. Two Columbian riders accomplished the best rounds in the division for seven- and eight-year-old horses. Carlos Enrique Lopez Lizarazo won with his eight-year-old Selle Francais-mare Ultramarine, followed by his compatriot Rene Lopez with the also eight-year-old Sandro Boy-daughter Destiny’s Child. Second place went to Philipp Weishaupt with the only seven-year-old Hanoverian mare Call me Eva by Chacco-Blue.
Fraziskus and Fürst Levantino at the top in the Nuremberg Cup qualifier
It is the 25th year for the prestigious Nuremberg Cup, the dressage series for seven- to nine-year-old horses. The upgraded competition mode celebrates its debut with the first stage of this series held at Horses & Dreams meets Denmark. While it was up to the riders to decide whether to present their horses in the opening competition, this is mandatory now. Only the best 12 duos are entitled to participate at the qualifier in the Almased Dressage Stadium on Saturday.

Ingrid Klimke from Münster won the first division with the Fidertanz-son Franziskus and a final score of 73.512%, the highest score of the test. The Norwegian Isabel Freese from the stable of Paul Schockemöhle won the second division with Fürst Levantino and 72.244%. Second places went to Kira Wulferding with Benaglio and Helen Langehanenberg with Suppenkasper. Ingrid Klimke and Geraldine came in third, just like Ann-Christin Wienkamp with Frizzantino.
The fifth of the world rankings, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, and her Dante’s Peak, an 11-year-old Hanoverian chestnut gelding, won the second test of the small dressage tour, presented by Sattlerei Hennig. A Danish rider captured another rostrum place: Daniel Bachmann Andersen with Blue Hors Don Olymbrio. Helen Langehanenberg and Annabelle earned another third place.
